Add your people
Already have the list somewhere? Paste it all at once — one name per line, or separated by commas.
Exclusions (optional)
Pick two people who shouldn’t draw each other — couples, siblings, last year’s matches.
Event details (optional)
Share the links
Send each link only to its person — anyone who has a link can open it.
Not Christmas? You can draw names from a hat online for raffles, chores, and pairings too.
How it works
-
Add names
Type in everyone taking part — from 2 people up to 100. Add exclusions for couples or repeat matches if you like.
-
Draw
One tap runs the draw right on your device. Nobody gets themself, and every exclusion is honored.
-
Share private links
You get one reveal link per person. Send each one through whatever app you already use — we send nothing.
Your names never leave your browser
There’s no server to send them to. The draw, the links, the reveal — all of it runs on your device. Don’t take our word for it: open your browser’s devtools, watch the network tab, and run a draw. Nothing goes out.
Questions people actually ask
Do I need an account?
No. People search for “secret santa generator no sign up” — that’s exactly what ShuffleNames is: no accounts, no email addresses required, nothing to join. Add names, draw, share the links, done.
Can I stop two people from drawing each other?
Yes — add an exclusion. Pick two names and the draw guarantees neither one gets the other, in either direction. It covers couples, siblings, or last year’s matches. If your exclusions make a draw impossible, we tell you exactly which one to remove.
What happens if I draw again?
A re-draw creates a fresh set of links, but the old links keep working — there’s no server, so nothing can revoke them. Make sure everyone gets their new link and ignores the old one. We warn you before every re-draw for exactly this reason.
How do the reveal links work?
Each person’s assignment is packed into their link itself — nothing is stored anywhere, so to us the whole exchange stays anonymous. The payload is lightly scrambled so it doesn’t read as plain text, but that’s obfuscation, not encryption: anyone who has a link can open it. Send each link only to its person.
Can the organizer see who got who?
Honestly, yes — the organizer’s browser creates every link, so an organizer who wants to peek, can. If you’re organizing and want a surprise too, ask someone else to run the draw, or trust yourself not to click.
Does it cost anything?
No. There’s no paid tier, no ads on the tool, and no catch — it’s a small static site that costs almost nothing to run.
Will it hold up in December when everyone uses it at once?
Yes. The site is static files and the draw runs on your device, so there’s no server to overload. December is exactly what it’s built for.
What if I close the page before sending the links?
Copy or send the links before you leave — they only exist on that screen. There’s no account and no server holding a copy, so if the page is gone, just run the draw again and send the fresh links. Old links keep showing their old result.
